Anne Jud

Anne Jud , also Anne Jud-Hallauer (born April 22, 1953 in Kastanienbaum , Switzerland ; † April 1, 2016 in Santa Barbara , United States ) was a Swiss costume designer and installation artist .

Live and act

Anne Jud completed acting training in Zurich and Vienna from 1972 to 1974 and then went to Berlin, where she accepted her first assistantship. In 1975/1976 Anne Jud went on a six-month study tour through the United States and Mexico. Back in Berlin, the autodidact practically learned costume design at the Schaubühne Berlin and was involved in various theater projects such as the Shakespeare performances at the Schaubühne and the Theater des Westens . Over the years she turned to other different art projects and worked as a performance artist as well as an installation artist. Jud's art installations include her dollar bill folds.

From 1976 to 1993 Anne Jud participated as a costume designer in theater and film productions, from 1977 to 1981 she was a member of the Berlin gallery on Moritzplatz. At the same time she organized exhibitions in Berlin until 1994, but also in other European cities. In 1985 she received a working grant from the Berlin Senator for Culture. From 1987 to 1991 Anne Jud also held teaching positions for costume at the University of the Arts before moving to Solvang in the USA in 1994, where she worked at the art studio at Hallauer Ranch. Until her death in 2016, Anne Jud-Hallauer (married to Wolfgang Hallauer since 1995) organized exhibitions in the USA and Europe.

Jud's contributions to the film are limited to a few costume designs from the 1980s. After her assistance with Thomas Brasch's 1980 film Engel aus Eisen , she worked with directors who worked beyond mainstream entertainment. She created the costumes for productions by Elfi Mikesch , Monika Treut , Rosa von Praunheim , Ulrike Ottinger and Wolfgang Becker .
