Anne de Montet-Burckhardt

Anne de Montet-Burckhardt (born June 29, 1878 in Niederschönthal, municipality of Füllinsdorf ; † December 2, 1952 in Ascona ; resident in Vevey ) was a Swiss women's rights activist from the canton of Vaud .

Life

Anne De Montet-Burckhardt was a daughter of Nathanael Burckhardt, authorized signatory , and Emilie Burckhardt. She married Charles de Montet, psychiatrist , son of Emmanuel Louis Henri de Montet, banker . She grew up in Niederschönthal. She completed a language stay in Morges as well as a vocal training . She worked as the secretary of the Union des Femmes de Vevey . From 1917 to 1929 she was president of the Vevey women's franchise. From 1925 she sat on the board of the Federation of Swiss Women's Associations (BSF). From 1929 to 1935 she was President and until 1949 Vice-President. From 1930 to 1940, Montet headed the commission of the Federation of Swiss Women's Associations to combat the consequences of the crisis for working women. She called for the right to work for married women during the Great Depression. She represented the Confederation of Swiss Women's Associations in the Federal Film Commission. In 1933 she was co-founder and until 1950 president of the Swiss Association for Housekeeping.
