Annemarie Hähnsch , later Annemarie Matthäß , (born January 2, 1904 in Leubnitz-Neuostra (Dresden), † January 25, 1968 in Dresden ) was a German table tennis player in the 1930s . She was German runner-up from 1938 and became world champion with the German women's team in 1934 .
In the DTTB's anniversary book, the birth name is incorrectly given as Haensch . According to the death certificate, the Hähnsch spelling is correct.
National successes
Annemarie Hähnsch played for the Blau-Gold Dresden club in the early 1930s. At the national German championships she was mostly in the shadow of the players Hilde Bussmann , Astrid Krebsbach and Trude Pritzi . Therefore she reached “only” third place in the individual in 1932 , 1934 , 1936 and 1941 . She had her greatest success in 1938 when she reached the final in the singles and was defeated here by the naturalized Austrian Trude Pritzi.
With the women's team from SG Reemtsma Dresden , she became German champions in the 1934/35 season. In 1933, she took second place in the German ranking.
International success
In 1933 Annemarie Hähnsch took second place at the international German championships in Berlin.
In 1932 and 1934 she took part in the world championships, but in 1932 only in the individual competitions, as no team competitions were offered for women. Both times she made it to the second round in singles and in doubles to the quarterfinals. In 1934 she became world champion with the German women's team. It was used twice. She did not play any other international matches in her career.
The results of the 1932 World Cup are known. In the first round, she lost to the eventual world champion Anna Sipos from Hungary. The doubles with Mona Rüster defeated Marie Kettnerová / Mayerova (CSSR) and then lost Anita Denker / Magda Gál (Germany / Hungary). In mixed with Nikita Madjaroglou , she won against Okter Petricek / Vedralova (CSSR), but not against Victor Barna / Anna Sipos (Hungary), who later won the title.
Private
Annemarie Hähnsch lived in Dresden. She married in the mid-1930s and then appeared under the name Annemarie Matthäß . The marriage later ended in divorce.
