Hilde Bussmann

Hildegard (Hilde) Bussmann (born November 24, 1914 in Düsseldorf ; † January 10, 1988 ) was a German table tennis player .

Life

Bussman was nominated 34 times for international matches from 1934 to 1951. She won two gold medals at the 1939 World Cup . Between 1936 and 1951 she was German individual champion seven times; this record was exceeded by Nicole Struse in 2005 when she won the German championship for the eighth time.

Before the Second World War, Hilde Bussmann played for the “Mercedes Club” Duisburg , until 1951 for the SSV Oberkassel club , after which she moved first to Borussia Düsseldorf and shortly afterwards to Eintracht Frankfurt , with whose team she was three times German champions. From 1947 to 1951 she was in first place in the German rankings.

In 1957, the Federal President awarded her the Silver Laurel Leaf for her outstanding sporting achievements .

Hilde Bussmann lived in Düsseldorf. Together with her friend Karin Lindberg , she ran a lottery and toto acceptance point there from 1946 to February 1984.
