German table tennis championship 1939

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 9th national German table tennis championship took place from January 13th to 15th, 1939 in Frankfurt am Main .

It was the second German championship after the annexation of Austria in 1938. Once again the Austrians were superior and won all titles.

In the purely Austrian men's singles final, Otto Eckl prevailed 3-0 against Ferdinand Schuech from Vienna . Last year's winner Karl Sediwy failed in the third round at the Berliner Hauser. In the women's singles, Trude Pritzi defended her title with a 3-1 win over Hilde Bussmann .

Only the individual competitions were held, doubles and mixed competitions were omitted. All competitions were played in the best-of-five (three winning sets) mode .

The results are only very incomplete in the reports.
