Annemarie Kuhn

Annemarie Kuhn (born May 9, 1937 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) is a German trade union secretary and politician of the SPD .

Life

After Kuhn attended grammar school from 1947 to 1953, she then began an apprenticeship in banking, which she was able to complete as a bank clerk. She then worked for a short time as a bank clerk at Sparkasse Ludwigshafen , before taking up a position in the Rhineland-Palatinate / Saarland district management of the chemical-paper-ceramic industrial union (later IG Bergbau-Chemie-Energie ) in 1956 . At first she worked in all departments as well as the secretary of the district manager, from 1977 she was union secretary for European issues and foreign workers.

Kuhn joined the Chemical-Paper-Ceramics IG in 1955, and in 2015 she was honored for her 60-year membership. She is also a member of the Arbeiterwohlfahrt , Pro Familia and the animal welfare association , and she was also a deputy member of the administrative board of the commercial health insurance company .

politics

In the SPD, to which she has been a member since 1964, Kuhn held various board functions up to the state level, including the Young Socialists , the Working Group for Employee Issues and the Working Group of Social Democratic Women , and also in the Mainz sub-district and in the Rheinhessen district . For many years she was the chairman of a local SPD association in Mainz. From 1974 she was a member of the Mainz city council, in which she was part of the parliamentary group executive committee.

On December 20, 1990, she moved to the European Parliament, to which she was a member until 1999. There she belonged to several committees as a full or deputy member. These included the Committee on Petitions, the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Consumer Protection and the Delegation for Relations with South Eastern Europe, as well as the Joint Assembly of the Agreement between the States of Africa , the Caribbean and the Pacific and the European Union .
