Annette Ludwig

Annette Karin Ludwig (* 1963 in Karlsruhe ) is a German art historian , museum director and university lecturer . Since May 2010 she has been director of the Gutenberg Museum in Mainz.

Life

She studied art history, modern German literary studies and building history at the University of Karlsruhe (TH). She completed her studies with a master's degree and a thesis on the Russian painter and graphic artist Vladimir von Zabotin . In her dissertation, which u. a. was awarded the university prize, she dealt with the work of the Stuttgart brothers Heinz and Bodo Rasch at the interface between architectural utopia, architectural journalism, furniture and graphic design.

Alongside and after her studies, Annette Ludwig worked as a freelancer at the German Architecture Museum (DAM, Frankfurt / M.). Until 2010 she worked as a curator at the Städtische Museen Heilbronn (multi-division house) and on behalf of the Ernst Franz Vogelmann Foundation (J. Beuys Collection). She published u. a. published by Insel-Verlag (Frankfurt / M., Leipzig). In 2010 she became director of the Gutenberg Museum , where she was the curator for the 19th – 21st He published several award-winning publications (most recently Futura. Die Schrift, Mainz 2016 (German), 2017 (English)) with special exhibitions focusing on typography.

She was responsible for numerous exhibitions, conferences and events that also increased the cultural tourism attractiveness of the “World Museum of Printing Art”. Together with Atelier Brückner (Stuttgart), she developed a concept for the content and structure of the Gutenberg Museum. The implementation by DFZ Architects (Hamburg) was stopped in service phase V in April 2018 by a referendum. Annette Ludwig initiated collaborations, including a model in 2011 with the Mainz University of Applied Sciences . On an international level, it works institutionally with the Early Printing Museum and the Central Library of Cheongju University in Cheongju (South Korea).

Annette Ludwig has been a lecturer at KIT - Karlsruhe Institute of Technology , at the Center for Applied Cultural Studies (ZAK) and at the academy there for further academic training since the 2008 summer semester .

The Rhineland-Palatinate Prime Minister Malu Dreyer appointed her as a member of the Board of Trustees of Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz from 2018 . Ludwig is chairman of juries (including the Mainz city printer award) and a member of juries (including the Kahnweiler award, DAM Book Award, Mainz media award). Since 2015 she has been the 1st chairwoman of the Gesellschaft der Bibliophilen eV (Munich), the oldest bibliophile association in Germany.

In addition, Annette Ludwig is involved in a number of committees, including the Advisory Board for the Saarland Cultural Heritage (Saarbrücken), the Advisory Board for the Center for Book Studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , and the Advisory Board for the radio station Antenne Mainz .

She is on the board of trustees for the awarding of the Gutenberg Prize in Leipzig and Mainz, member of the executive and board of directors of the International Gutenberg Society , and member of the board of trustees of the Gutenberg Foundation. Ludwig is the 2nd chairwoman of the Moses Foundation , member of the Board of Trustees of the Paul Strecker Foundation (Mainz), and the International Working Group on Printing and Media History (Wadgassen).

Annette Ludwig is Protestant. In 2018 she was included in the Great Convention of Ev. Academy in Hessen and Nassau eV (Frankfurt / M.) Elected. She is married to the literary scholar Hansgeorg Schmidt-Bergmann .
