Annette Seemann

Annette Seemann (born March 4, 1959 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German author and translator.

She was born as Annette Besier. After graduating from high school and occasional appearances in the Frankfurt cellar theater , she studied German and Romance studies in Frankfurt am Main and Poitiers ( France ) until 1982 . In 1985 she married Hellmut Seemann from Heidelberg . The later translator received her doctorate in 1986 in her hometown with the subject “ Merlin - Prophet and Magician”. phil.

She began her translation career with three plays by Carlo Gozzi . From 1990 to 2000 she was one of the freelance authors of the FAZ magazine. Her novel "The Wrong Child" was published in 1998. She has lived in Weimar since 2002 .

In 2003 Annette Seemann took over the chairmanship of the Society of Friends of Anna Amalia Library (GAAB) e. V. Since 2014 she has been a member of the PEN Center Germany .
