Annetto Depasquale

Annetto Depasquale (born June 28, 1938 in Qormi ; † November 29, 2011 ) was a Maltese clergyman and Roman Catholic auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Malta .

Life

Annetto Depasquale studied Catholic theology and philosophy at the University of Malta and Canon Law and Pastoral Theology at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome , where he received his doctorate in 1968 . Depasquale was ordained a priest on April 17, 1962 . He was active in the commission for children's homes, pastoral services and pastoral care in the parish of St. George in Qormi and for the English-speaking population in Malta. He was a longtime professor of canon law in the Faculty of Theology and Law at the University of Malta. On August 6, 1977 he was Chancellor and on April 14, 1986 Pastoral Secretary of the Archdiocese of Malta, from January 9, 1989 its Vicar General .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Aradi on November 16, 1998 and appointed him auxiliary bishop in the Archdiocese of Malta. He was ordained bishop by the Archbishop of Malta, Joseph Mercieca , on January 2, 1999; Co- consecrators were Nikol Joseph Cauchi , Bishop of Gozo , and Archbishop Luigi Gatti , Apostolic Nuncio in Malta and Libya .
