The Ansgar Kirke ( German  Ansgarkirche ) is a church building of the Evangelical Lutheran Danish Church in South Schleswig ( Danish Dansk Kirke i Sydslesvig ) in northern Flensburg . The church is named after the missionary Ansgar .

It should not be confused with the older Roman Catholic St. Ansgar Church in the Mürwik district of Flensburg .

building

Construction of the church and the neighboring parish center began in 1966 and was completed after just two years, so that the church could be opened in November 1968. The Danish architect Kay Fisker was behind the building . The building is simple and has no exterior decorations. The massive church tower is modeled on the Notmark Kirke on the Danish island of Als. The interior is also relatively simple and is based on the Ketting Kirke on Als. Central is the altar and the surrounding altar barrier ( old age patients ). The church stands in January 2007 under monument protection .

Furnishing

The organ was built in 1968 by the organ builder P. Bruhns. The instrument has 21 stops on two manuals and a pedal .
