Antônio de Mendonça Monteiro (born November 7, 1907 in Cachoeira , Bahia , Brazil , † December 23, 1972 ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Bonfim .

Life

Antônio de Mendonça Monteiro was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of São Salvador da Bahia on April 4, 1931 .

Pope Pius XII appointed him on January 31, 1950 titular bishop of Sozusa in Palestine and auxiliary bishop in São Salvador da Bahia. The Archbishop of São Salvador da Bahia, Augusto Álvaro da Silva , donated him episcopal consecration on April 16 of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Maceió , Ranulfo da Silva Farias , and the Bishop of Crato , Francisco de Assis Pires .

On March 7, 1957, Pope Pius XII appointed him. to the Bishop of Bonfim . He participated in the first two sessions of the Second Vatican Council as a council father.
