Antoine Le Waitte
Antoine Le Waitte (* 1600 in Braine-le-Comte , † October 4, 1677 in Ath ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman, Cistercian , abbot of two monasteries , theologian and author.
life and work
Le Waitte occurred in 1619 in the Cambron Abbey one, put 1,620 professed from, studied until 1625 at the universities of Leuven and Douai and librarian was his monastery. In 1638 he went to the Beaupré nuns as spiritual director . From 1639 to 1649 he was Prior of Cambron. He was then elected Abbot of Cambron, but a year later he was made Abbot of Moulins . From 1662 until his death he was again abbot in his home monastery Cambron. He published theological works on Thomas Aquinas and Bernhard von Clairvaux , as well as an extensive history of the Cambron Monastery , in the Neo-Latin language . He exchanged letters with the abbot of the Benedictine monastery of St. Adrian in Geraardsbergen / Grammont. There are unpublished manuscripts from his pen in Mons.
