Antoinette Campi
Antoinette Campi , also Antonina Campi , born Antonina Miklasiewicz ( December 10, 1773 in Lublin - October 1, 1822 in Munich ) was a Polish opera singer ( soprano ).
Life
Antoinette Campi made her debut in Lublin in 1785. In 1788 she became court singer under King Stanislaus II August Poniatowski in Warsaw . In 1789 she studied singing at the Royal College. Her extraordinary voice, which reached g 3 over three octaves , quickly made her famous both in Poland and abroad. In addition to numerous appearances in Warsaw, she was also invited to concerts in Prague , where she settled in 1791.
In 1801 she went to Vienna, where she worked as prima donna at the court opera. In 1801 the new building of the Theater an der Wien , completed under Emanuel Schikaneder in Empire style, was opened. On this occasion she sang the role of 'Clara' in the opera Alexander von Franz Teyber . The Italian composer Ferdinando Paër wrote the opera Sargino, ossia l'allievo d'amore (Vienna, 1803) especially for her .
In 1817 and 1820 she toured all of Europe as a singing star. She received special recognition for her performance of various roles in the operas of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart . She sang the Countess' in the Marriage of Figaro , which Donna Anna 'in Don Juan and the Queen of the Night' in the Magic Flute .
Campi died on October 1, 1822 of meningitis .
