Anton-Hermann Chroust

Anton-Hermann Chroust (born January 29, 1907 , † January 1982 ) was a German-American lawyer , philosopher and historian .

The son of the Würzburg historian Anton Chroust received his doctorate in 1929 from the University of Erlangen with a dissertation on the Code Napoléon in the Grand Duchy of Würzburg .

From 1946 to 1972 he was Professor of Law, Philosophy and History at the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, USA .
