Anton Günther von Harling

Anton Günther von Harling (born August 2, 1595 in Oldenburg (Oldenburg) , † June 30, 1655 in Diepholz ) was a German administrative lawyer and most recently Landdrost of the County of Diepholz .

Life

Von Harling was a son of the Oldenburg Privy Council and Landdrosten, heir to Nienfelde, Düthlingen and Eversen , Christian von Harling and his wife Ilse von Wahlen. From 1611 he studied theology and philosophy at the University of Wittenberg . After the outbreak of the plague there, he moved to Leipzig , 1613 to Gießen and 1615 to Tübingen , where he stayed for two years and completed his studies. From the spring of 1617 he stayed in Speyer to learn about legal practice and litigation at the Reich Chamber of Commerce. In 1618 he set out on a grand tour of France and Italy. Before he went on to England, his father called him home.

On May 21, 1620, von Harling was appointed court counselor to Wolfenbüttel by Duke Friedrich Ulrich von Braunschweig-Wolfenbüttel . Because of the war events, he returned to his home town of Oldenburg in 1626 and was appointed court master of Count Rudolf Christian of East Friesland. However, he was unable to take up this position due to the count's murder. Until 1629 he stayed on his estate in Eversen.

In June 1629, von Harling was appointed court judge by Duke Christian zu Braunschweig and Lüneburg , and in 1630 he was sent to Bleckede as captain . However, because of the war, he resigned again and withdrew to his estates. In 1640 he was appointed war councilor by Duke Friedrich. From 1642 to 1649 he was a Privy Councilor and Chamber Councilor. On March 7, 1650 he became Landdrost of the County of Diepholz. He died after a stroke on June 30, 1655 in Diepholz. He was buried in a hereditary funeral in Sülze . The printed funeral sermon comes from the Diepholz superintendent Johannes Naumann.

Anton Günther von Harling married Anna Margarete von Behr († 1650) from the Stellichte house on February 21, 1630 . The marriage produced four sons and one daughter. In his second marriage he was married to Elisabeth Schenck von Winterstedt from 1652.
