Anton Hering
Anton Hering , also Anton Herings (* mid-16th century in Burhave ; † June 15, 1610 ) was a German lawyer and Oldenburg civil servant.
Life
August Hering was the son of the preacher Edzard Hering († 1572), the tutor of the sons of Count Anton I from Oldenburg , and studied law at the University of Helmstedt from 1580 , moved to the University of Wittenberg in 1583 and finished his studies in Basel , where he obtained the degree of Licentiatus iuris . He then stayed for a long time in Speyer and Prague and practiced at the Imperial Chamber Courts . On July 30, 1591, he was appointed to the council of the count's chancellery in Oldenburg and was subsequently mainly involved in the long-running inheritance conflict between Count Johann VII and his brother Anton II . In contrast to his brother Johann VII, who claimed sole rule in the two counties of Oldenburg and Delmenhorst, Anton II insisted on a division of the rulership rights, as had often occurred in the previous centuries. He could also refer to the Oldenburg Chronicle of the superintendent Hermann Hamelmann in the manuscript, which his brother himself had arranged for. In order to deprive him of this argumentation aid, Johann VII commissioned Hering to "revise" the text of the chronicle and to prepare a clean version for printing that could be used for his political purposes. He deleted all references to the more than thirty divisions that had previously been recorded in the history of the counties, changed a number of passages and also added extensive additions to the Hamelmann text, which was printed in this falsified form in 1599 and shared by Hering with the physician Hermann Neuwalt was published.
After the accession of Count Anton Günther Hering in 1603 to the council and land judge in Ovelgönne appointed. In 1606 he published a thorough study of the institution of the guarantor , which was regarded as a standard work and had at least three further editions after his death.
family
Hering was married twice. Only the name of his second wife Ubbeke geb. Honrichs, the daughter of Johann Honrichs († 1609) and his wife Anna, the daughter of Count Georg von Oldenburg († 1551) and his concubine Heileke. His son Johann (1599–1658), who was secret councilor in the count's office in Oldenburg from 1632 to 1639, probably came from his second marriage, which was concluded in March 1598 .
