In 1922 the Städtische Galerie in the Lenbachhaus in Munich acquired his still life Azaleas with a pewter plate . This early success and the acceptance of pictures for exhibitions in the Munich Glass Palace prompted him to devote himself entirely to free painting. He became a member of the Munich Art Association and the Munich Artists' Cooperative ( Die Achtundvierzig group ), in whose annual shows in the Glaspalast he regularly took part. In 1925 he sent works to the Biennale of Venice and took occasional exhibitions in Paris and Holland part. From 1937 to 1943 he was represented at the Haus der Deutschen Kunst every year .
