Anton Ivanovič Lessing (born May 21, 1840 in Mühlhausen near Bamberg , † April 3, 1915 in Oberlahnstein ) was a German-Russian entrepreneur.

Lessing came from Bavaria and went to Russia to set up industrial companies. 40,000 people worked in the mines he helped manage. Lessing co-founded the Kolomnaer Maschinenbau-AG in 1871 and in 1885 he and a Russian prince founded the company Wyksunsker Bergwerke.

From 1872 he lived in Oberlahnstein and was also politically active there. He ran for the National Liberal Party in the Reichstag election in 1898 in the Reichstag constituency Wiesbaden 3 district , but could not prevail in the party stronghold of the center against the long-time Reichstag member Ernst Lieber .

He was an honorary citizen of Mühlhausen and Oberlahnstein and was appointed Royal Prussian and Imperial Russian Council of Commerce .

His family grave was built between 1904 and 1915 on the now abandoned Old Cemetery in Oberlahnstein and is a listed building.

He is the father of Walter Lessing , grandfather of Clemens Lessing and great-grandfather of Gregor Gysi .
