Anton Müller (writer)
Anton Müller , better known under the pseudonym Brother Willram (born March 10, 1870 in Bruneck , † February 16, 1939 in Innsbruck ) was a Tyrolean writer and priest . His works mainly include local poems and Catholic literature.
Life
Grew up as the son of a carpenter family, Anton Müller entered the seminary there after visiting the Vinzentinum bishopric in Brixen . Since his poetic streak was already recognizable at this time, he joined the Netheborn group of poets , where it was also common for the members to use stage names. This is how Anton Müller came up with the name Brother Willram , who shaped him so much that his real name was completely withdrawn and to this day many people only know him under this pseudonym. In 1892 he was awarded in Brixen Cathedral the priesthood . This was followed by Kaplan years in Nikolsdorf , where he received his first volume of poetry pebbles and crystal published. He spent the years 1899 to 1901 in Rome at the university, where he trained primarily in archeology and art history . After his studies he came to Innsbruck, where he was again employed as a cooperator until he found a job as a religion professor at the teacher training institute in 1903, which he continued until he retired in 1933.
In addition to his professional activity, Anton Müller was active as a public speaker, preacher and poet, whereby his war-glorifying writings from the First World War led to much controversy. Karl Kraus described his writings in the torch in 1920 as a "blood-drunk intellectual product of a hideous war poet". After the war, Müller founded the Bruder-Willram-Bund in Innsbruck, which mainly campaigned for poor young people.
Some of his many publications have received awards.
