Anton Maranski (born June 16, 1832 in Kulm , † March 16, 1897 in Rintzk ) was a Catholic priest and briefly a member of the Reichstag of the German Empire .

Life

Anton Maranski belonged to the Polish part of the population in the Prussian province of West Prussia and studied Catholic theology in Pelplin . From 1866 to 1867 he was a member of the Polish parliamentary group in the Prussian House of Representatives .

In the election for the first Reichstag of the German Empire in March 1871 , he won the mandate in the constituency of Marienwerder 4 ( Thorn , Kulm , Briesen ). He scored 7200 votes in the election, his National Liberal opponent 7165, 11 votes were for other candidates. A protest was lodged against the election at the Reichstag, which was approved by the Reichstag majority at the Reichstag session on March 25, 1871. The reason for the cancellation of Maranski's election was formal violations during the election process and the flooding of the Vistula , which prevented part of the electorate from voting. The national liberal candidate Friedrich Meyer won the by-election on May 11, 1871 .
