Anton Saris

Anton Saris (* 1975 in Vlissingen ) is a Dutch tenor .

He had his greatest successes in the lyric-dramatic field, especially as Bacchus in Ariadne auf Naxos , Florestan in Fidelio , Erik in The Flying Dutchman , Gerontius (Dream of Gerontius), Alfred and Eisenstein ( Die Fledermaus ) and as a tenor soloist in Mahler's “ Lied from the earth ”.

He sings a lot in oratorios, often with famous colleagues like Franz-Josef Selig and Günther Groissböck .

Since 1999 he has lived at the Weißen Hirsch in Dresden with his wife Camilla Nylund and their two daughters.

Music studies

After graduating from high school, Anton Saris first studied trombone at the Utrecht Conservatory , but soon began vocal training at the Royal University of The Hague , where he was initially trained as a lyric baritone. He sang in this subject for the first six years of his career.

After the birth of his daughter Isabel, he decided to change subject to tenor, where he made his debut in Beethoven's 9th Symphony in Antwerp after ten months .

Artistic career

Anton Saris has worked as a soloist with many well-known opera ensembles and orchestras, such as the Radio Filharmonisch Orkest , the Bochumer Symphoniker , the Philharmonie Südwestfalen , the Neue Elbland Philharmonie , the Flemish Opera Antwerp and the Amsterdam Opera .

Anton Saris sang in a production of "festivals d`Ambronay" during a European tour in the role of Joabel David et Jonathas by Marc-Antoine Charpentier , conducted by William Christie , after which he was invited to Aeneas in Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell in Ambronay and to sing at the Opera Comique in Paris . The participation as Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus took him to New York on the occasion of the Oklahoma Mozart Festival .

He also sang the tenor solo in Puccini's Messa di Gloria , Gustav Mahler's Song of the Earth , Josef Haydn's Creation , Edward Elgar's The Dream of Gerontius , Dvořák's Stabat Mater and Requiem , in Our Father by Leoš Janáček , in Beethoven's Mass in C and 9. Symphony , Mozart's Coronation Mass and Requiem , Haydn's Timpani Mass , Schubert's Mass in B flat major and Handel's Ode for St. Cecilia's Day .

In 2006 he made a tour through Denmark, Germany and Switzerland in the role of Graf Zedlau in Wiener Blut with the Operetten-Theater Hannover and made a guest appearance at the Düsseldorf Operetta with the same operetta role .

He made recordings for TF 1, NOS, Vara, YLE and Naxos, among others. Among other things, he sang Florestan in Fidelio at the Bad Hersfeld Festival, Rodolfo in La Bohème and Eisenstein in Die Fledermaus with the Internationale Operaproducties (Amsterdam), with the Noord Nederlands Orkest (Groningen) and Opernhaus Vaasa (Finland) and received from the State Opera in Izmir an invitation to star in "Idomeneo".

Since 2016 Anton Saris has devoted himself increasingly to the art of song. He sang at the "Elokuun illat" Festival in Hamina (Finland) Winterreise and songs in the series of art song at the White Hart in Dresden. In 2016 he became the artistic director of this series.
