Anton von Blarer

Anton von Blarer (born June 8, 1798 in Aesch ; † July 21, 1864 there ) was a Swiss politician and lawyer .

Anton von Blarer was born as the son of the episcopal head stable master Franz Karl Jakob Christoph and brother of Colonel Jakob von Blarer . Blarer completed his law studies and camera studies in Landshut , Karlsruhe , Freiburg im Breisgau and Bonn . After exercising the post of auditor in the Bleuler Regiment in France, he returned to Freiburg im Breisgau and worked as a lawyer. In 1830 he returned to Aesch.

Blarer was one of the leading members of the Basel region's independence movement from the city. In 1831 he took a seat in the provisional government of Basel. He was on the Constitutional Council several times , from 1832 to 1834 he was a member of the government , he held the post of military and police. He is the author of the first cantonal military organization and in 1834 was a delegate to the Diet .

After that, the Catholic Blarer devoted himself primarily to the care of his agricultural goods and also worked as a district administrator from 1834 to 1851 and 1860 to 1864, judge from 1836 to 1837 and councilor from 1862 to 1864. He also held various other offices. Politically, he was on the "left" wing of the party for order .
