Anton von Brandis
Anton Graf von Brandis , officially Anton Graf and Herr zu Brandis, Freiherr zu Leonburg, Forst and Fahlburg , (born February 24, 1832 in Laibach ; † May 14, 1907 in Lana ) was Governor of Tyrol.
Life
Anton Graf von Brandis, son of Clemens von Brandis from the South Tyrolean aristocratic family Brandis , was an imperial and royal councilor and treasurer and hereditary member of the Austrian manor house . Count Brandis was Governor of Tyrol from September 30, 1889 to April 25, 1904. He made special contributions to the Tyrolean State School Act of 1892. The administrative specialist also excelled in the reorganization of the property tax and the municipal constitution. Together with Heinrich Böhm he was the concessionaire for the Bozen-Meran railway and played a decisive role in the construction of this transport line.
He was also chairman of the Austrian Leo Society in Tyrol, one of the historian Joseph Alexander von Helfert founded and named after Pope Leo XIII. named association for the promotion of Catholic knowledge. He was President of the General Council of the St. Vincent Societies for Tyrol. On June 14, 1892 he became an honorary member of the Catholic student association AV Austria Innsbruck .
He was the author of the Brandis family book.
