Johann Kiechl (born January 19, 1804 in Sarnthein , † May 26, 1893 in Wilten ) was an Austrian lawyer, politician and governor of Tyrol.

Life

Johann Kiechl was the son of the count's district judge Johann Baptist Kiechl the Elder. Ä. from Hall in Tirol and Maria Anna Theresia, née Zagler. After his academic years (1827-1838), he served as a concept intern and adjunct at the regional court in Merano . In between he was also an actuary at the regional court in Bregenz . In 1838 he succeeded his father as district judge in Sarnthein and then in Passeier . In 1843 he became a councilor and in 1850 a regional judge at the collegiate and regional court in Bolzano . In 1854 he became a councilor at the higher regional court in Innsbruck .

In 1861 he was elected by the city of Bolzano as a representative of the liberal party in the Tyrolean state parliament. On September 12, 1854, the city of Bozen granted him honorary citizenship. Until 1867 he represented Bolzano in the first parliamentary state parliament of Tyrol.

From December 20, 1862 to December 22, 1866 he was governor and state archery master. A high point of his activity was the 500th anniversary of the unification of Tyrol with Austria. In his political activities he also earned the respect of the politically conservative opponents in the state parliament. From 1863–1871 he was in charge of the Sparkasse Innsbruck, 1875–1880 of the Museum Ferdinandeum .

In 1867 he was appointed Hofrat i. R. appointed a lifelong member of the Reichsgericht , but after ten years he resigned from this office.
