Anton von Saß

Johann Anton Gustav von Saß alias Johann Anton August von Saß (born September 21, 1739 in Livonia , † February 11, 1807 in Prussia ) was a Russian - Prussian cavalry officer .

Life

family

Anton came from the German-Baltic noble family von Saß . He was the eldest son of the Russian brigadier and heir on Tegasch Paul Hartwig von Saß (1703–1772) and Barbara Helene von Hirschheydt (1715–1798).

In 1765 he married Henriette Albertine von Ledebur († 1809). With her he founded a Prussian branch that found its way into the male line at the end of the 20th century . The marriage had two sons:

  • Paul Andreas (1768–1825) ∞ Elisabeth von Labsien († 1833)

Military career

From around 1752 Saß served in the Russian army for twelve years and was last staff officer when he came into Prussian service in 1764 as a prime lieutenant in the "Meyer" dragoon regiment . In 1771, Saß was promoted to staff captain of the "Pomeiske" dragoon regiment and in 1773 he was given a squadron in the newly established "Owstien" hussar regiment . In this he did particularly well as Rittmeister in the Bavarian War of Succession at Martinowes .
