Antoni Korzycki

Antoni Korzycki (born November 7, 1904 in Podkonice Duże ; † June 9, 1990 ) was a politician of the Polish People's Party PSL (Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe) and the United People's Party ZSL ( Zjednoczone Stronnictwo Ludowe ) in the People's Republic of Poland , who between 1947 and 1952 was Deputy Prime Minister as Vice President of the Council of Ministers.

Life

Antoni Korzycki was initially involved in the Polish People's Party "Liberation" PSL-W (Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe "Wyzwolenie") and then in the National Peasant Party NPC (Niezależna Partia Chłopska) founded in 1924 , before he was a member of the Presidium of the Union of the peasant left "self-help" ZLC-S (Zjednoczenie Lewicy Chłopskiej "Samopomoc") was. After the end of the Second World War , Korzycki was General Secretary of the SL farmers' party between 1945 and 1949. In the Sejm election on January 19, 1947 he was elected for the SL as a member of the Constituent Sejm (Sejm Ustawodawczy) . In the first government of Prime Minister Józef Cyrankiewicz , he served between November 6, 1947 and November 20, 1952 as Vice President of the Council of Ministers and was thus one of the Deputy Prime Ministers (Wicepremier) . In 1949 he joined the United People's Party ZSL ( Zjednoczone Stronnictwo Ludowe ) and became a member of the Presidium of its National Committee.

On November 20, 1952, he was elected a member of the Sejm for the ZSL in constituency No. 13 Bydgoszcz and belonged to it from the first to the end of the eighth legislative period on December 31, 1985. Between 1952 and 1956 he acted as chairman of the communal cooperative "Peasant Self-Help" and then in 1956 became Chairman of the Central Council of the Agricultural Cooperatives "Peasant Self-Help". From the second to the fifth legislative period (February 20, 1957 to December 22, 1971) he was chairman of the Interior Committee of the Sejm. In the third and fourth legislative periods (May 15, 1961 to April 29, 1969) he was deputy of the ZSL parliamentary group . Between 1970 and 1983 he was chairman of the Central Revision Commission of the Polish-Soviet Friendship Society and a member of the General Council of the Association of Fighters for Freedom and Democracy ZBoWiD (Związek Bojowników o Wolność i Demokrację) . In the sixth legislative period (March 28, 1972 to February 10, 1976) he served as Vice-Chairman of the Committee on Home Affairs and Justice. During his membership in parliament he was also a member of numerous other committees of the Sejm.

Antoni Korzycki has received several awards for his services and received, among others, the Order of the Builder of People's Poland (Order Budowniczych Polski Ludowej) , the Order of the Cross of Grunwald (Order Krzyża Grunwaldu) Second Class, the Order of the Banner of Labor (Order Sztandaru Pracy) First Class, the Order of Polonia Restituta (Order Odrodzenia Polski) as a commander with a star , the medal “For services to the defense of the country” (Medal “Za zasługi dla obronności kraju”) , the medal for the 30th anniversary of People's Poland (Medal 30-lecia Polski Ludowej) , the Medal for Warsaw 1939–1945 (Medal za Warszawę 1939–1945) and the badge for the 1000th anniversary of the Polish state (Odznaka 1000-lecia Państwa Polskiego) . After his death he was buried in the Wólka Węglowa Municipal Cemetery .
