Life

He studied law at the University of Padua and was appointed cardinal priest on July 6, 1411 . His titular church was Santa Susanna . In fact, he was a pseudocardinal (he had received the purple robe from the antipope John XXIII ), but nevertheless took part in that conclave of 1417 that elected Martin V as pope during the Council of Constance . From 1420 on he was administrator of the suburbicarian diocese of Tusculum . After the conclave of 1431 he was raised to Cardinal Bishop of Frascati by the new Pope Eugene IV , in whose election he had participated .

He was a well-educated personality, an accomplished politician , but actually a humanistic scholar .
