Bishop Antonio Riboldi

Antonio Riboldi IC (born January 16, 1923 in Triuggio , Lombardy ; † December 10, 2017 in Stresa , Piedmont ) was an Italian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Acerra .

Life

Antonio Riboldi joined the order of the Rosminians and was ordained a priest on June 29, 1951 .

Pope Paul VI appointed him Bishop of Acerra on September 8, 1975. The Archbishop of Palermo , Salvatore Cardinal Pappalardo , donated him episcopal ordination on March 11 of the same year ; Co - consecrators were Costantino Trapani OFM , coadjutor bishop of Mazara del Vallo , and Clemente Riva IC, auxiliary bishop in Rome .

On December 7, 1999, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation. Antonio Riboldi spent his retirement in Acerra near his home monastery.

Antonio Riboldi became known as a bishop in Sicily for his work against the Camorra and as a priest for the earthquake victims in the Belice Valley in the 1960s. He was one of the first bishops to use the internet for preaching.
