Antonio Manuel Roma (born July 13, 1932 in Villa Lugano , a district of Buenos Aires , † February 20, 2013 in Buenos Aires) was an Argentine football player .

Goalkeeper Antonio Roma has been dubbed Tarzan by fans for his fearless performance on high crosses . Roma began his professional career in 1955 at Ferro Carril Oeste and joined the Boca Juniors at the end of 1959 with Silvio Marzolini . Here he played until 1972, when he ended his career after 323 games for the club and was one of the most popular footballers of this club. He was Argentinian champion three times with the Boca Juniors (1962, 1964, 1965).

National team

For the Argentine national soccer team , the 42-time Argentine national player took part in the 1962 Soccer World Cup in Chile and the 1966 Soccer World Cup in England . He was also a member of the victorious Argentine squad at the 1957 Campeonato Sudamericano . There he acted as a substitute goalkeeper behind Rogelio Domínguez . Also in 1967 he was part of the Argentine squad at the South American Championships and was vice-South American champion with the Albiceleste.
