Antonio Sozzo

Antonio Sozzo (born May 9, 1942 in Paola ) is an Italian clergyman, archbishop and diplomat emeritus of the Holy See .

Life

Antonio Sozzo was ordained a priest on August 28, 1971 .

On August 5, 1995, Pope John Paul II appointed him titular archbishop pro hac vice of Concordia and apostolic nuncio in Algeria and Tunisia . The episcopal ordination received his Cardinal Secretary of State , Angelo Cardinal Sodano , the same year on October 14; Co- consecrators were Mario Tagliaferri , Apostolic Nuncio in France , and Attilio Nicora , Bishop of Verona .

On May 23, 1998, he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio to Costa Rica . On July 17, 2003 he was appointed Apostolic Nuncio in Morocco . On September 16, 2015, Pope Francis resigned from office.
