history
On May 2, 1398, the knight Heinrich von Hüchelhoven, Erb schultheiß zu Eschweiler and Herr zu Adendorf , and his wife Margarete, with the consent of the abbot von Steinfeld and the pastor of Fritzdorf, founded a chapel in Arzdorf. This was in honor of the Virgin Mary and the Saints Stanislaus , Antony and Servatius ordained . The donors endowed the chapel with an annual pension. To this end, the pastor of Fritzdorf was supposed to read a weekly mass in memory of the donor family.
Since the chapel had become dilapidated , Count von der Leyen , lord of the castle of Adendorf , had a new chapel with three altars built in 1732.
The veneration of St. Anthony, the hermit, made Arzdorf a destination for pilgrimages for the residents of the surrounding area in the 18th and 19th centuries . Today it belongs to the parish of St. Marien Wachtberg .
