Antti Pusa (born November 7, 1988 in Käppäselkä , Soviet Union ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player who was used on the position of winger .

Career

Antti Pusa went through the junior teams of the Turun Palloseura club (TPS) and then played for the U20 and combat team of the Finnish second division club TuTo Hockey , with whom he was able to celebrate the championship title in 2008. Until 2010 he played one more season with league opponents HeKi before he ran up for the French teams Montpellier Hockey and Ours de Villard-de-Lans in 2010/11 .

The 2011/12 season he played for the Slovenian club HK Jesenice in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga (EBEL), where he was Slovenian runner-up, top scorer (37 points) and top scorer (16 hits) of the club. In addition, he had also scored the most penalty minutes of all seasons of his career with 174 penalty minutes.

In April 2012, Pusa was signed by the Austrian league opponent EC VSV under the Finnish head coach Hannu Järvenpää and became a crowd favorite, reaching 36 points and one of the best assistants in the league with his 28 assists. With the Villachern he won fourth place in the main round and the quarter-finals of the playoffs.

After he had not received a new contract from the VSV, he started in 2013/14 with the Danish first division club Herning Blue Fox , but ended the season with TuTo Hockey. In 2014/15 he played for the Quad City Mallards in the American East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), where he contributed 15 points in 28 games.

Antti Pusa was born on the territory of the former Soviet Union and came to Finland with his parents and brother at the age of five, where his grandparents lived. After Pentti Hyytiäinen, he was only the second Finn in the history of the EC VSV.

Pusa was involved in several arguments and fist fights during his season in the EBEL, including against the VSV players Derek Damon and Kyle Wanvig in quick succession during the "Karawankenderby" on September 30, 2011 in Jesenice, where he and Wanvig while driving to In the penalty box. He later played with Derek Damon at the VSV.

In November 2012, Pusa made headlines across the country when he was drunk and mistaken for an apartment door after an ice hockey game in Klagenfurt and triggered a police operation, where he hit an officer in the face with his fist. Governor Gerhard Dörfler had then recommended a "plane ticket" for Pusa. However, after a clarifying discussion, the SAAM gave him a fine and was allowed to remain in the team.
