The Apostolic Exarchate Argentina ( lat. : Apostolicus Exarchatus Argentina Tinae ) is in Argentina located Apostolic Exarch of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church , based in Córdoba .

history

Melkite Christians first began immigrating to Argentina in the late 19th century . Two major waves of immigration took place between the years 1910 to 1930 and 1949 to 1950. The majority of the migrants came from Lebanon and Syria and settled in Rosario , Buenos Aires and Córdoba . The largest congregation with around 50,000 members was founded in Córdoba, where the bishopric was also established. On April 20, 2002 , Pope John Paul II implemented the exarchate for the faithful of the Melkite Greek Catholic Church in Argentina.
