The Apulian Ragwurz or Apulian Hummel-Ragwurz ( Ophrys fuciflora subsp. Apulica ) is a subspecies of the plant species Ophrys fuciflora from the genus Ragwurzen ( Ophrys ) within the orchid family (Orchidaceae).

Vegetative characteristics
The Apulian Ragwurz grows as a perennial herbaceous plant and reaches heights of 10 to 30, rarely up to 55 centimeters.
Generative characteristics
The flowering period extends from April to May. The inflorescence usually contains only three to eight, but sometimes up to 14 flowers.
The hermaphrodite flowers are zygomorphic and threefold. The sepals are greenish at a length of 14 to 17mm and a width from 6.5 to 9.5 millimeters ei-lanceolate and appear or pink to red. The petals (petals) are 5 to 9 millimeters long and 3 to 5 millimeters wide and darker. The longitudinally convex strongly arched lip is trapezoidal with a length of 13 to 18 millimeters and a width of 11 to 15 millimeters and has short hairs on the rear edge (shoulder). It is bent up at the front edges. The mostly extensive and richly structured juice mark is brownish-purple with a light edge.
The number of chromosomes is 2n = 36.
Occurrence
One finds Ophrys fuciflora subsp. apulica mostly in southern Italy and rarely in Sicily . In the Tuscany -like plant specimens were discovered. Their relationship to the Apulian Ragwurz has not yet been conclusively clarified.
Ophrys fuciflora subsp. apulica can be found on poor grasslands , garrigues , light oak and pine forests with soils rich in bases up to an altitude of about 1000 meters.
