Working group for foreign and security policy

The working group for foreign and security policy (ASP) is one of the largest working groups of the CSU with around 4,000 members .

tasks

The ASP sees itself as the initiator and mouthpiece of the CSU in all questions of foreign , security , European and development policy . For each of these policy areas there is a technical committee that meets at irregular intervals for discussion.

The work of the ASP focuses on three goals:

  • The elected representatives in all aspects of CSU international policy advice.
  • To provide a discussion forum for the discussion of security and defense issues.
  • To help shape political opinion and will-formation in the sense of strengthening the Bundeswehr , the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) of the European Union (EU) and the transformation of NATO .

structure

The working group has district associations in each of the administrative districts of Bavaria and in the state capital Munich . These are further subdivided into district associations.

There are also specialist committees for the topics of foreign policy, security policy - Bundeswehr, Europe and development policy.

history

In 1965, the Defense Policy Working Group (WPA) was founded. In November 1993, it was renamed the Defense and Security Policy Working Group . On December 11, 2004, the EPA merged with the Foreign Policy Committee to form the newly founded ASP, which covers a broader range of topics.
