The golden salmon-like (Argentiniformes) are an order of small, marine , often living in the deep sea bony fish. The families of this order were counted among the smelt-like (Osmeriformes).
features
The common characteristic of the order is a complex, sac-shaped structure called the " epibranchial organ " behind the gill arch , which is associated with the planktonic diet of the fish. In most cases, golden salmon have an adipose fin and a swim bladder . Your dorsal fin lies over the middle of the body, the caudal fin is forked. The mouth is small. The fish are silver in color and lay relatively small eggs.
Familys
There are four families, 19 genera and over 70 species:
- Golden salmon family (Argentinidae)
- Deep-sea insect family (Bathylagidae)
- Microstomatidae family
- Family barreleye (Opisthoproctidae)
The three families that used to be part of the suborder Alepocephaloidei within the Argentiniformes have now been separated as an independent order ( Alepocephaliformes ).
