Ariane Lauenburg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ariane Lauenburg (born in Hamburg ) is a German journalist specializing in finance . She works as an editor at the Stiftung Warentest in Berlin and writes for the consumer magazine Finanztest and the Foundation Portal test.de .

Live and act

Ariane Lauenburg studied sociology at the Free University of Berlin . After graduating in 1981, she completed an internship at the daily newspaper Der Tagesspiegel in Berlin, where she worked as an editor for three years. She was press spokeswoman for the Berlin Senate for Health and Social Affairs and city hall correspondent for the Berliner Morgenpost .

Since 1991 Lauenburg has been the editor of Stiftung Warentest's financial test magazine in the section “Investments, old-age provision, loans and taxes”. She is also one of the regular authors of the financial test yearbook . She is considered an expert on the " gray capital market " and was involved in the 1999 special issue Geldanlage: Grauer Kapitalmarkt , in which a "warning list" lists 250 dubious providers and intermediaries.

As a financial expert from Stiftung Warentest, Lauenburg is repeatedly quoted and interviewed by the media. In connection with the consulting practice of the investment company AWD and its founder Carsten Maschmeyer , whose methods Lauenburg has been observing since the mid-1990s, she warned against financial products from AWD, especially closed-end funds . She was interviewed about this in the report by Panorama Der Drückerkönig und die Politik broadcast by ARD in 2011 . She accused the AWD of "systematically providing incorrect advice" to its customers. In an interview with Deutschlandfunk , she advised investors to file a lawsuit through a lawyer who specializes in capital investment law.

In 2009 she uncovered violations of data protection regulations at Postbank . The documentation Die Falschberater von ZDFzoom from 2013 on the consulting practice of Postbank also referred to research by Ariane Lauenburg.

In 2009, Lauenburg was one of the nine nominees for the “Long Breath” journalism prize awarded by the German Association of Journalists in Berlin-Brandenburg for their reports on the excesses of the German and international capital markets .

Attacks on Lauenburg

According to a press release by the German Union of Journalists from spring 2019, Lauenburg was the victim of insults and defamation on the Internet. This went as far as the death threats she received via email. The attacks were preceded by an investigative article by Ariane Lauenburg on the online portal “Gerlachreport” registered in the USA and by the entrepreneur Rainer von Holst. Finanztest had reported several times since the summer of 2017 how the entrepreneur is said to have cheated investors.
