Ariel Francisco Rodríguez Araya (born September 27, 1989 in San José ), also simply called Ariel Rodríguez , is a Costa Rican football player .
Career
society
Ariel learned to play football from 1998 to 2009 in the youth teams of AD Municipal Liberia , Fusión Tibás and Santos de Guápiles . He signed his first contract in 2009 with his youth club Santos de Guápiles FC, where he played until 2011. In 2012 he moved to Belén FC . After the first series and 8 games he went to the CD Saprissa . For the club he played 123 games and scored 51 goals. In 2016 he left Costa Rica and went to Asia . Here he joined the Thai first division club Bangkok Glass . For the capital club he ran 64 times and scored 31 goals. In 2018 he was loaned to his home club CD Saprissa for half a year. The 2019 season he was loaned to the first division promoted PTT Rayong FC from Rayong . After Rayong announced his retirement from the Thai League, he moved back to his home country, where he joined his former club CD Saprissa. With the club he was in the final of the Supercopa de Costa Rica . Here they lost against CS Herediano 2-0. In August 2020 he moved back to Asia. Here he signed a Vietnam contract with Ho Chi Minh City FC in Ho Chi Minh City . The club played in the first division, the V.League 1 .
National team
Since 2016, Ariel has appeared on the field 12 times for the Costa Rican national soccer team . He played his first game for the national team on May 27, 2016 . Costa Rica played against Venezuela at the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica . Here he also scored his first goal in the first game.
