Competition mode
The Torneo de Copa Banco Nacional was played in knockout mode, starting in the round of 16. With the exception of the final, which took place in the Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica , all rounds were played back and forth, with the club that was higher in the previous season having home rights in the second leg.
In the first round, the five second division teams (including the promoted to the Primera División) competed against the top five of the Primera División (1st First League against 5th Second League, 2nd First League against 4th Second League, etc.). The six other top division teams played among themselves, whereby the pairings were not determined according to sporting criteria, but rather according to attractiveness and economy.
The "keys" for the following rounds (from the quarter-finals to the final) were designed so that the four top-placed first division clubs could only meet in the semi-finals in order to ensure sporting attractiveness.
financing
The special thing about the Torneo de Copa Banco Nacional 2013 was the form in which it was organized, as the organizing association, UNAFUT, handed over the organization to a production company.
