Armin Lang

Armin-Emil Lang (born November 21, 1947 in Niederkirchen / Ostertal ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1985 to 2009 he was a member of the Saarland State Parliament .

Life and work

Lang studied social work and social education at the Catholic University for Social Work in Saarbrücken from 1966 to 1970 . He then worked as a manager at the International Federation for Social Work until 1973 . At the Diakonisches Werk an der Saar, Lang worked until 1983 as a consultant for social planning and public relations and from 1983 to 1986 as managing director. From 1980 to 1985 he also headed the Evangelical Education Center in Neunkirchen-Wiebelskirchen . In addition, between 1972 and 1987 he took on several teaching positions at the Catholic Universities of Saarbrücken and Mainz. Lang is currently head of the VdAK and AEV state representations in Saarland (since 1990) and Rhineland-Palatinate (since 2004).

Lang is Protestant, married and has one son.

Political party

Lang joined the SPD in 1969. He was a member of the board of the Ostertal local board (1969–1979), chairman of the St. Wendel city ​​association (1979–1995) from 1995 to 2006 chairman of the St. Wendel district association .

From 1987 to 1997 he was state chairman of the Working Group of Social Democrats in Health Care (ASG). He has held this position again since 2002. He has also been on the ASG federal board since 2002. From 2004 to 2006 he was Deputy Federal Chairman of the ASG; from 2006 to 2015 he was federal chairman of the ASG.

Offices

Lang was a member of the district council of the St. Wendel district from 1974 to 2004 - from 1979 to 1994 as deputy chairman of his parliamentary group, from 1994 as parliamentary group chairman. From 1984 to 2004 he was a member of the board of the Saarland district council .

The state parliament of Saarland belonged Lang of the ninth legislative term (1985) to the end of the thirteenth legislative term of (2009). There he was Chairman of the Committee on Women, Labor, Health and Social Affairs (1985–1999), Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Europe (1990–1995), Deputy Chairman of his group (1994–2004) and most recently a member of the Health and Social Affairs Committee . For reasons of age, he no longer ran for the state election in 2009 .

In 2008, Lang became chairman of the VdK / Saarland regional association.

From 2009 to 2014 Lang was mayor in his hometown Osterbrücken.
