Armin Schwolgin

Armin Fritz Schwolgin (born July 30, 1953 in Lexow , Mecklenburg) is a German economist who works as a professor of logistics at the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Lörrach . He is also an adjunct professor at Beijing Wuzi University in Beijing and a Distinguished Professor at the Yanching Institute of Technology in Langfang City, Hebei Province .

Live and act

Schwolgin acquired the high school diploma as part of a student exchange in McHenry (USA) and made the German Abitur in Detmold in 1974 . After completing his military service (1973–1974), he studied economics at the Ruhr University Bochum with an academic degree in economics (1980). There followed an assistantship with Joachim Süchting at the Institute for Credit and Finance. During this time he spent six months doing research at the Stern School of Business, New York, NY (1980) and lecturing at the Administration and Business Academy Industrial District in Bochum. He later taught at the Administration and Business Academy in Wuppertal and the Management Academy (FOM) in Essen . With a thesis on financial innovations and minimum reserve policy, he received his PhD from the Ruhr University in Bochum in 1984. rer. oec. PhD.

From 1985 to 1997 he worked for the Bayer Group in the corporate finance department and at the subsidiaries Bayer USA Inc., Pittsburgh , USA, and Bayer do Brasil, São Paulo , Brazil. After returning to the parent company, he was in charge of central group controlling. From 1997 he was a member of the board of DB Regio AG ; the departments supervised included finance and controlling, purchasing and IT.

After working as a freelance consultant and interim manager in the transport sector, he was appointed professor at the DHBW-Lörrach in 2002, where he has been the head of the business administration, transport and logistics course since 2004. From 2007 to 2010 he was Dean of the Faculty of Business. Since 2007 he has been responsible for the cooperation with Beijing Wuzi University in Beijing, the development and expansion of which he has played a key role.

He is co-editor of the Praxishandbuch Logistik ( Wolters Kluwer Verlag ) and the publication series of the Lörracher Logistik Forum at the DHBW Lörrach.

Research engagements

In research and teaching, he is now primarily concerned with issues of logistics controlling and logistics in emerging countries, especially in Brazil, Colombia and China. He has presented a large number of publications on the transport and logistics sector in these countries. Since 2005 he has mainly been working on problems in the areas of financing and controlling for logistics service providers as well as logistics in China and Brazil .
