Arnim Juhre

Arnim Juhre (born December 6, 1925 in Berlin , † September 28, 2015 in Wuppertal ) was a German writer , poet and songwriter .

Life

After returning from British captivity, Arnim Juhre was initially a freelance writer. From 1962 to 1969 he worked as an author and editor for the Evangelical Broadcasting Service in Berlin, from 1969 to 1975 as a publishing editor in Wuppertal. From 1976 to 1977 he was the editor in charge of the evangelical weekly newspaper “Sonntagsgruß” in Saarbrücken . From 1977 he worked as a publisher's editor and from 1982 to 1990 as a literary editor at the Deutsche Allgemeine Sonntagsblatt in Hamburg , where he worked as a "permanent cultural correspondent" even after his official retirement. Since 1998 he has lived as a freelance writer in Wuppertal. He was the author of plays, short stories, dramas, essays, radio plays, poems and song texts, especially in the New Spiritual Song category , which have found their way into many hymn books and song books. His oratorio “One day we have to tell the truth” about the fire in the Reichstag in 1933 was premiered during EXPO 2000. He received an annual scholarship from the Carl Bertelsmann Foundation (1955/56) and the Nikolaus Lenau Poetry Prize, Esslingen (1994). He was a member of the Association of German Writers (1969), the Authors 'Circle Ruhr-Mark (1969) and the European Authors' Association Die Kogge (1975) as well as the PEN Center Germany and the text authors and composers group TAKT . On the initiative of Juhres, the Evangelical Academy Tutzing donated the Marie Luise Kaschnitz Prize, which was awarded for the first time in 1984 .
