Arno Lücker

Arno Lücker (born April 14, 1979 in Braunschweig ) is a German composer , musicologist and music critic .

Life

Lücker grew up in Langenhagen near Hanover . As a student he received piano lessons from Martin Dörrie at the Hanover University of Music and Theater . After graduating from high school and doing community service , he studied musicology and philosophy in Hanover, Freiburg and Berlin from 1999, with Ulrich Pothast (philosophy) and Hermann Danuser (musicology) among others . In 2006 he started working on his dissertation at the University of Hamburg . Since 2007 he has also completed his concert exam in composition with Claus-Steffen Mahnkopf at the Leipzig University of Music and Theater .

In November 2000 he won second prize in a piano competition, and two weeks later he received the first composition award for variations on a theme by Sergej Prokofiew (UA Ensemble Sortisatio ) at the Hans Stieber competition as part of the Hallische Musiktage . Lücker has published in various musicological journals for several years. He is also active as a music critic (including for the Berliner Zeitung and the Neue Musikzeitung ). His works were produced by various broadcasters, such as Bayerischer Rundfunk , Deutschlandfunk and Deutschlandradio .

Arno Lücker lives and works as a composer, musicologist and freelance journalist for RBB Kulturradio in Berlin. Since 2008 he has been managing director of the Berlin Society for New Music . From 2010 to 2014 he worked as a dramaturge for new music at the Konzerthaus Berlin .

In 2018, his event series listen twice at the Konzerthaus Berlin was ended after a controversy over a parodic shred video. The violinist Daniel Hope , synchronized with suggestive remarks, had threatened legal consequences. Lücker then deleted the video from his YouTube channel.
