Arno von Poser and Groß-Naedlitz (born March 19, 1869 in Bremen , † June 28, 1940 at Grubhof Castle (Sankt Martin bei Lofer) ) was a German major general .

Life

Arno was a member of the old Silesian noble family Poser and the fourth child of the Prussian major general zD Hermann von Poser and Groß-Naedlitz (1838-1922) and his wife Selma, née Seidler.

Military career

In April 1880 he joined the cadet corps and from 1883 learned at the Prussian main cadet institute in Berlin-Lichterfelde. In 1888 he graduated from the Engers War School . As a lieutenant he came to the Infantry Regiment "Graf Bose" (1st Thuringian) No. 31 , Altona . After two years in the General Staff , he was transferred in March 1902 as a captain to the grenadier regiment "King Friedrich Wilhelm II." (1st Silesian) No. 10 , Schweidnitz . With the outbreak of World War I , he was battalion commander in the 4th Silesian Infantry Regiment No. 157 , Brieg , which was deployed on the Western Front as part of the 12th Division . In October 1914 he was appointed regimental commander of the 3rd Upper Silesian Infantry Regiment No. 62 , with which he fought in France. In 1917 he worked as commander of the Reserve Infantry Regiment No. 10 on the Eastern Front in the Russian Baltic Governments . Since January 1918, Arno von Poser and Groß-Naedlitz led the 2nd Hanoverian Infantry Regiment No. 77 back in France on the western front , u. a. during the fighting in the Pas-de-Calais department . In October 1918 Arno became the deputy commander of the 5th Baden Infantry Regiment No. 113 , with which he reached home. There he was appointed Commander Section 2 of the neutral zone, based in Wipperfürth . In October 1920 he was appointed major general disposition .

Civil life

Poser was married to Florence, a daughter of the potash mining and fertilizer entrepreneur Hermann Schmidtmann (1841-1919), with whom he had a son. He was a member of the supervisory board of Kaliwerke Aschersleben AG, which his father-in-law founded in 1889. The couple lived on the Grubhof estate near Lofer, acquired and expanded by Hermann Schmidtmann in 1890, where he died on June 28, 1940. The maintenance of the Grubhof Castle there posed financial challenges for both of them. In his free time he devoted himself to family research. With the help of his research results it was possible in 1957 to bring out a book about the Silesian family von Poser.
