Arnold Östman

Arnold Östman (born December 24, 1939 in Malmö ) is a Swedish conductor and music manager .

Career

Östman attended the Conservatory in Vadstena , of which he was artistic director since 1970. In 1974 he moved to NorrlandsOperan as artistic director , which he was director until 1978. From 1979 to 1992 he was music manager and conductor at the Drottningholm Palace Theater .

Östman is best known for his services to Mozart's operas . In addition, he proved to be a meritorious administrator of Mendelssohn's works .

Outside of his home country, he has directed various orchestras, including that of Covent Garden in London , and various in Vienna , Parma , Paris , Trieste , Cologne , Bonn , Toulouse , Nice , Wexford , Madrid , Washington, DC and Lausanne .
