Arnold Hug
Arnold Hug (born May 26, 1832 in Buch am Irchel , Canton of Zurich; † June 17, 1895 in Zurich ) was a Swiss classical philologist.
Life
Arnold Hug studied from 1850 in Zurich and Bonn. In Bonn he received his doctorate in 1855 with the dissertation Observationes criticae in Cassium Dionem . In the same year he went to Szczecin as an assistant teacher. In 1856 he became a teacher and later Vice Rector at the grammar school in Winterthur (until 1869). From 1866 he was a private lecturer in Zurich and from 1869 a full professor of classical philology.
