Arnold Klotz

Arnold Klotz (born August 5, 1940 in Wörgl ) is an Austrian town planner and was Vice Rector for Infrastructure at the University of Innsbruck .

Life

Arnold Klotz attended the Bundesrealgymnasium in Kufstein from 1950 to 1959 and then studied architecture at the Technical University of Vienna until 1966 . Until 1970 he was a university assistant at the Institute for Urban Development, Spatial Planning and Regional Planning at the Vienna University of Technology. In 1978 he received his doctorate in technical sciences and in 1986 he qualified as a professor in the field of local spatial planning, with special attention to municipal development planning .

From 1970 to 1974 he was head of department 18 (urban and regional planning) and head of department VI (spatial urban development) of the municipal building department in Vienna . From 1974 to 1991 he was head of the city planning office in the city of Innsbruck . From 1991 to 2005, Klotz worked as a planning director or area director for urban planning in the Vienna City Administration Office. from 2002 to 2004 he was also World Heritage Commissioner for the City of Vienna.

In 2006, Klotz was finally appointed professor at the Institute for Urban Development and Spatial Planning at the University of Innsbruck . From October 2007 to February 2012 he was Vice Rector for Infrastructure at the University of Innsbruck.

In 1991 he was awarded the Decoration of Honor for Special Services to the City of Kufstein, and in 2006 the Great Silver Decoration of Honor of the State of Vienna. On October 7, 2010, Klotz was awarded the Austrian Cross of Honor for Science and Art 1st Class and in 2014 the Cross of Merit of the State of Tyrol at a ceremony at the University of Innsbruck .
