Arnold Petersen (General Manager)

Arnold Petersen (born November 30, 1926 in Lübeck ; † August 30, 2013 in Volterra , Tuscany , Italy ) was a German dramaturge and artistic director .

Life

Arnold Petersen completed his school education with the Abitur. From 1946 to 1956 he worked as a dramaturge at the Lübeck Theater and in Hildesheim . Between 1956 and 1972 he worked as the chief dispatcher at the National Theater Mannheim and then until 1975 as the head of the artistic operations at the Hamburg State Opera .

From 1975 to 1992 he was general director of the Nationaltheater Mannheim, where he shaped the style before he held the same position from 1993 to 1994 at the Volkstheater Rostock and from 1994 to 1996 at the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden . In the 2002/03 season he was interim director of the Bonn Theater . In 2013 he died in Volterra, Italy.

Petersen is the namesake of the Arnold Petersen Prize, endowed with 5000 euros, which has been awarded by the Roland Ernst Foundation to a new member of the Mannheim National Theater since 1992.
