Arnold Roth (engineer)

Arnold Roth (born April 7, 1890 in Zurich ; † June 17, 1970 in Aarau , reformed , legal domicile in Teufen ) was a Swiss electrical engineer .

Life

Arnold Roth was the son of the professor of bacteriology Otto Roth and Nelly born Bärlocher. In 1908, Arnold Roth began studying mechanical engineering at the Eidgenössisches Polytechnikum Zürich , which he continued in 1913 at the Technical University of Berlin-Charlottenburg , and in 1916 with the academic degree of Dr. Ing. Graduated.

As a result, Roth was employed by the BBC in Baden from 1916 to 1925 , from 1921 onwards as head of the testing department. From 1925 to 1933, Roth worked as technical director at the Ateliers de Constructions Electriques de Delle in Villeurbanne near Lyon. Finally, he worked from 1934 to 1967 as a director at Sprecher & Schuh in Aarau, from 1945 as a delegate, from 1956 as chairman of the administrative board . As an engineer, Arnold Roth developed switches for electrical high-voltage networks .

He was also a member of the Swiss Electrotechnical Committee from 1936 to 1968, from 1950 to 1958 as President. Roth also acted as a member of the Aargau Chamber of Commerce and the Basel Sample Fair . He also served in the Swiss Army with the rank of major .

In 1918 he married Marguerite, the daughter of the dentist Adrian Zinsstag. Arnold Roth died on June 17, 1970, two months after he had turned 80 in Aarau.
