Arsen Avetissjan ( Armenian Արսեն Ավետիսյան ; born October 8, 1973 in Yerevan , then USSR , now Armenia ) is a former Armenian football player who played as a striker .

career

Avetissjan has so far played for seven clubs in his home country as well as the Belgian club FC Berchem . He is currently under contract with FC Gandzasar Kapan . His most famous former clubs include FC Ararat Yerevan and FC Pyunik .

In 1995, as a player for Homenetmen Yerevan , Avetissjan was Europe's top scorer with 39 goals in one season. However, he did not receive the Golden Shoe , UEFA's award for Europe's top scorer, as it was not awarded from 1991 to 1996.

Avetissjan played 25 international matches for the Armenian national team in the mid-1990s .
